Vintage Italian Carved Cameo Brooch 14K Gold
Italian Carved Cameo depicts Hebe feeding her Father Zeus as an Eagle. Set in original 14K yellow gold bezel with ring and pin safety closures. Beautifully done. Circa 1910 - 1915. Measures approximately 60mm x 54mm Hebe is the daughter of Zeus and Hera. Hebe was the cup bearer for the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus, serving their nectar and ambrosia, until she was married to Herakles (Roman equivalent: Hercules); her successor was the young Trojan prince Ganymede. The name Hebe comes from a Greek word meaning "youth" or "prime of life". Wonderful works portraying Hebe can be seen in the Museum of Forlì, in Italy.
